Lex Reviews Cute Knight (10/24/2008)

Hanako Games' Cute Knight is a true gem to the RPG Adventure gaming community. The adventure begins with you as an orphan who is trying to find your parents and find your dream path in life. In order to do this, you have to watch your HP (hit points) and Dream Points carefully, or you'll end up as a maid, or even worse, a librarian! The game ends up taking on many gaming facets including role-playing, adventure, simulation, and strategy, which does make the game interesting and refreshingly entertaining.

You start off the game in town and have access to various locations. Almost each location offers a job that helps you to learn how to advance your skills. The trick is to take advantage of your natural abilities, and make sure to buy the right equipment right away! For example, don't buy a dagger if you have a natural ability for magic. Buy a wand instead. Also, all work and no play makes Jack (or Jane in this case) a dull girl, so make sure to take part in the seasonal festivals to increase your Dream Points. If they drop down to 0, than your dream is over. Also, don't be too afraid to do something bad to get ahead because you may have a chance to redeem yourself by taking up some work at the church.

The only downside is that sometimes you can get hesitant to make a decision, because it could end up being your last! It's usually pretty easy and quick to get back to where you were in the game, and once you get past the learning curve, the challenge to succeed becomes rather addicting, and does make the game rather fun.
